What are you all doing/have done about going back to work and childcare? I really dont know what to do,or do I not even need to think about it until the time comes???

I work 25 hours a week, 3 half days and 2 almost full days. My mum looks after Matthew on Mon Tue and Wed morning whilr Im working, she drops him at Nursery at 12 and goes to work and I pick Matthew up at 2.30 and pick my brother up from school (its the same one) at 3.10 and mind him until my mum gets home. Thurs and Fri I have a wonderful childminder.

I am really lucky. I have set days off work and so does Mark. My MIL watches the kids when we are work. She lives two mins away. We do pay her but its no way near what I would pay for other childcare xx

I am not returning to work right away so will be a stay at home Mum until we return to the UK. That's when things may get tricky!

I am hoping that I can go back to work for 4 days a week and to work my shifts around Ian's shifts. It will mean that we will be passing the baby between us in the car park at work and possibly never really getting much time together but until I can get the baby into a nursery or have a relative to help out then we'll have no option.

It's ridiculous that decent childcare costs so much but I am hoping to get a little bit of financial help in that area with child benefit, tax credits and so on but it would never be enough.

Have a look at the directgiv.gov.uk website that I have found to be a wee bit helpful with this.
